One of the things I like to regularly do is to search the online collections of museums from around the world for inspiration in their needlework, embroidery and textile collections.
Sometimes the works I find are contemporary, and sometimes they are historical.
These days many museums are increasingly putting their collections online. The quality of the images can vary, but some are excellent. Even if the image isn't excellent quality, it might just spark an amazing new idea...!
This list is not exhaustive, so if you have any suggestions for museums with searchable online collections that are not yet on this list, please let me know and I will be happy to add them. However, in the words of one excited reader, "It's the mother lode!"
