NeedleNews: December 2007Hello and welcome to another edition of NeedleNews. Its been over a year since I sent out the last newsletter, for which I apologise. In that time, a lot has happened. I was very sick earlier this year, so had a long and most infuriating period of enforced rest, and thankfully am completely better now. I recently completed the revision of "Mountmellick Embroidery: Inspired by Nature" and it will be available from this month. I have also been enjoying doing a lot of freelance writing for Inspirations magazine and other Country Bumpkin publications. I contributed a number of projects to Australian needlework magazines. I taught a number of shop-based classes down the east coast of Australia and travelled to a few country towns to teach Mountmellick to guild groups. And I have even started work on my next book, but I'm not letting any cats out of bags about that yet! I hope that you enjoy this issue of NeedleNews. Yvette Stanton 'Mountmellick Embroidery: Inspired by Nature' is here!
We are including the option of Express Post delivery (to Australian residents, where the service is available) for those who need a copy quickly. Order your copy of Mountmellick Embroidery: Inspired by Nature today! Great response to 'Ukrainian Drawn Thread Embroidery'
Order your copy of Ukrainian Drawn Thread Embroidery: Merezhka Poltavska by Yvette Stanton. New credit card facilitiesI'm pleased to announce that we are now able to accept credit cards over the phone and by mail order, in addition to through our website, which we have been able to offer now for some time. You can now phone through your orders or post back your order form, with credit card details, for us to process. This will mean that your payments are cleared more quickly than cheques, so we can send your order sooner. If you are phoning from outside Australia, please take note that our time zone is Australian Eastern Standard time. Of course, you are still welcome to send us payment in money orders and cheques! For residents outside of Australia, please note that cheques must be in Australian currency. New cotton satin jean fabric
I used Satin Royal fabric to create a new project for the revised version of our book 'Mountmellick embroidery: Inspired by Nature' and can tell you that it is just gorgeous to look at and work with! The fabric is 175cm wide. We have it available by the metre, as fat quarters (87 x 50cm) and fat eighths (43 x 50cm). Because this fabric is not part of the regular range stocked by the Australian distributors of Zweigart fabrics, occasionally it may be unavailable. We will try our best to anticipate the demand for this fabric and have stock at all times. However, if your order is unable to be filled immediately, we will contact you to let you know. Order some of the gorgeous Zweigart Satin Royal for your next Mountmellick project. Embroidery classes for 20082007 has been great fun sharing Mountmellick and Merezhka with students at classes in Brisbane, Katoomba, Narrabri and Bathurst. My teaching schedule for 2008 is fully booked, which is very exciting. I am adding a new destination to my schedule, by heading to Hobart for the first time. At most shops I will be teaching Mountmellick and Merezhka, but would like to remind people that I also do like to teach Hardanger embroidery! If you are in or will be visiting Sydney, don't forget that you can arrange for a personalised class in Mountmellick, Hardanger or Merezhka with me. Please call me to arrange a mutually agreeable time. Below is the list of shop-based classes that I will be teaching this year, but I will also be teaching a number of country NSW Embroiderers' Guild groups. Details of classes including project photos will be posted to the classes page and blog as they become available. Please book in early so that you don't forget! Bookings must be made with the shop that is hosting the class - I cannot take bookings for these classes.
Embroidery classes for 2009I know it seems like absolutely ages away, but because 2008 is fully booked, if your group or shop would like to book me for 2009 I am now taking expressions of interest. You are welcome to contact me to talk about classes in which you are interested. White Threads blogI have started a blog called White Threads, that can be found at http://white-threads.blogspot.com. It deals with my musings on whitework and embroidery in general, has class information and photos, and thoughts on other things that take my fancy. Some of you will be thinking "Blog? What is a blog?" The word "blog" is short for "weblog", and it is basically an online diary. It has the facility for people to make comments, so that you can join in the discussion, ask questions, and make comments. White Threads is where you will get the most up-to-date information about Vetty Creations, as it is the most immediate way for me to send out information. Our books go everywhere! For those of you who are not in Australia, you will be pleased to learn that Vetty Creations books are now being distributed in the US and Europe. Dinky Dyes is handling our distribution to needlework shops in North America, and Search Press in the UK will be taking our books into Europe. This means that you can order our books from your favourite local needlework store. If you are having trouble getting a copy of any of our books, please let me know and I can give you the information your favourite needlework store will need to be able to get copies in for you.
